Along with graphic and product design I have always had an interest in web development. This initially began as I wanted to produce my own website (which is now reality) but as time has gone on I have been able to become more involved with web based design. I firstly taught myself the basics of HTML and Dreamweaver so that I could start practicing developing web pages. Along with this I have worked on images in Photoshop to be able to make them suitable for use within web pages. This all came together when I was asked to produce my first website from scratch for International Lift Equipment.
The old website had become dated and gave an uninteresting view of the company. It did not display the services offered and was very basic with the odd bit of text and a couple of pictures. I therefore jumped at this chance wo work on a live development project which would become a platform for the company to devlop future business oppertunities. Below are some screen shots of the intial website which I developed.
The next stage of my personal web development is to teach myself php and mysql programming languages. This will allow me to create a product database and generate web pages on the fly from the information required by the user. This should greatly improve the scope of the site and will lead up nicely to the final goal of creating a buy online application for the site.
